Log Home Chinking & Caulking
Chinking is the flexible seal between your logs — and in Florida, it takes more of a beating than almost anywhere else.
Perma-Chink and Sashco Energy Seal · 42 years restoring log homes · Serving log homes across Florida

We install and repair chinking using Perma-Chink, and seal gaps and joints with Sashco Energy Seal — both built to flex with the log rather than crack and pull away like cheaper alternatives.
Signs You Need New Chinking
- Cracking or gaps between logs
- Chinking pulling away from the wood
- Visible daylight through joints
- Drafts inside during windy weather
- Water staining below joints
If you're seeing any of these, it's time for a look.

Chinking vs. Caulking
The two get confused constantly, and using the wrong one in the wrong place leads to water problems down the road:
- Chinking goes in the wider gaps between log courses — it's flexible, textured, and built to move with the logs as they expand and contract
- Caulking goes in smaller joints — around windows, doors, corners, and log ends — where less movement is expected
We install and repair both, matched to what your home actually needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
