What a Failing Finish Looks Like

Most log homes tell you when they are due. Peeling and flaking, gray patches where the stain has worn through, dark streaks below window trim, green algae along shaded walls — these are the conditions we see most often on Florida log homes before a restoration starts.

Media Blasting & Surface Prep

Old coatings have to come off before anything new goes on. We media blast the walls back to clean, bare wood, mask and protect windows, roofs, and landscaping first, and work off lifts so every course gets the same attention.

Log Rot Repair & Wood Replacement

Where water and insects have gotten into the logs, staining over the damage only hides it. We cut out the compromised wood and splice in new logs and log ends that match the profile of the wall, then blend the finish so the repair disappears.

Chinking, Energy Seal & End Seal

Sealing is what keeps a finish working. We fill open checks that would otherwise collect water, run energy seal along log lines and window trim to close the gaps that drive heating and cooling costs, and treat exposed log ends — end seal goes on milky and dries clear.

Staining & Refinishing

Once the wood is clean, repaired, and sealed, the finish goes on. We use Sashco and Perma-Chink products chosen for the wall, the exposure, and the look the homeowner wants.

Historic Log Home Restoration

Hand-hewn logs and dovetail corners on a home this old need a lighter touch than a modern milled-log wall. The goal is to stabilize and preserve the original timber, not to make it look new.
